The Fielding ADU San Diego Guarantee
When we hand you a written price for an ADU, garage conversion, or room addition in San Diego, that paper carries weight. The Garrison Standard has been the backbone of how we build since 2006, and it comes down to five rules Reed Calloway enforces on every job: show up in the window, price in writing, build by the book, leave it clean, and stand behind it for a full year. If our work fails inside that year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s not a pitch. It’s the same guarantee written into every contract we sign in Chula Vista, El Cajon, La Mesa, and across San Diego County.
What’s Covered
- Workmanship defects for 365 days. The Garrison Standard covers what our crew builds: framing, drywall, waterproofing, finish carpentry, and everything in between. If it fails because we built it wrong, we fix it.
- Written price before any work starts. You approve a number on day one. That number is the number on the final invoice. No change orders unless you ask for something different.
- Background-checked, uniformed crew. Every person who steps onto your property has been verified before they set foot there. You know exactly who is on your site and when.
- Cleanup at the end of every workday. Job sites get swept, materials get stacked, and your driveway does not become a lumber yard. When the project is done, we haul the debris.
- Permit and inspection support. We pull permits where required and our work gets inspected by the city. If an inspector flags something, we correct it before the job is called finished.
- Parts and materials handling. If a defect traces to a product we installed, we process the claim with the manufacturer and handle the replacement labor on our end.
Our Satisfaction Promise
Here is how it works when something is not right. You call (858) 264-3027. A live person answers, whether it is noon or midnight. We schedule a second visit. Reed Calloway or one of our lead carpenters walks the issue with you, on site, and we determine whether the failure falls under our workmanship guarantee. If it does, we correct it at no charge. No invoice. No deductible. No arguing about whose responsibility it is. We wrote the guarantee down on paper before we started, and we honor it because our reputation in San Diego outlasts any single project. If the issue is something we missed, we own it. If it is something you changed after we left, we will still quote you an honest price to fix it. The goal is simple: you should never have to chase us.
Licensed & Insured Backing
A written guarantee is only as good as the company standing behind it. Fielding ADU San Diego operates as a state-licensed and insured contractor in California, which means two things. First, the license means we answer to the Contractors State License Board, not just to our own conscience. Second, our insurance protects your property and our crew during the build. If a subcontractor gets hurt on your lot or a tool damages your stucco, the coverage exists to handle it without you reaching into your own pocket. Those two things, license and insurance, are the real-world backing behind every word in The Garrison Code. Anyone can promise. We put it in writing, and the writing is enforceable.
Why The Garrison Standard Matters for San Diego ADUs
San Diego is a specific market to build in. Coastal moisture in Point Loma and Ocean Beach means waterproofing details matter more than they do in Santee. The clay-heavy soils in Poway and Rancho Bernardo shift with the seasons, so foundation and footing work has to be done right the first time. A one-year workmanship guarantee is enough time for a San Diego ADU to sit through every season: winter rains, spring marine layer, summer heat, and the first Santa Ana winds of fall. If a flashing detail is going to fail, it will fail inside that window. If a door is going to bind from settling, it will bind inside that window. We want that year to pass without a call. But if you call, we answer.
How the Guarantee Works with Prefab and Modular Builds
We build with Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, and Plant Prefab, plus conventional construction using James Hardie siding and Tuff Shed-style structures. Here is how our guarantee layers onto those platforms. The factory warranty on a prefab module covers the module itself. Our workmanship guarantee covers what we do on your lot: the foundation the module sits on, the utility hookups, the tie-in to your existing home, the trim, the paint, the deck, the steps. If a prefab panel arrives with a factory defect, we process the manufacturer claim for you. If the issue came from our installation, we fix it under our one-year standard. You deal with one company, not three.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The Garrison Standard runs 365 days from the day we finish the project. If our workmanship fails inside that window, we return and correct it at no charge. A full year is enough time for a San Diego ADU to sit through wet winters and dry summers, and we want defects to surface while the guarantee is active, not after it expires. Call (858) 264-3027 if you have a question about what is covered.
The price you approve in writing before we start is the price on the final invoice. That covers labor, materials, and the scope of work we agreed to. If you change the scope, the price changes, and we put that change in writing before we do the extra work. No surprises at the end. If you are planning a garage conversion in City Heights or an ADU in Clairemont, call (858) 264-3027 and we will walk you through a real line-item number.
Reed Calloway and the same Fielding ADU San Diego crew that built the project. Every person is background-checked and arrives in uniform. We do not hand warranty work to an outside handyman and disappear. The people who built it are the people who make it right.
Yes. We pull permits where the city or county requires them, and our work passes inspection before we call the project done. Permits are part of the job, not an optional add-on. If you are building an ADU in an unincorporated area like Alpine or Lakeside, the county has its own process, and we handle that paperwork for you.
Call us. We would rather hear about it while the crew is still on site than read about it in a review six months later. If it is a workmanship issue, the guarantee applies. If it is a design choice you want to change, we will quote an honest price to change it. Either way, you get a straight answer from a live person at (858) 264-3027.
